We are the UT Houston Medical School chapter of LMSA - Latino Medical Students Association (formerly NNLAMS). Our organization was founded to represent, support, educate, and unify US Latino(a) medical students. Our focus is on serving the Latino community and celebrating Latino culture.
** LMSA welcomes Dr. Pedro Mancias, Friday, November 6, 12-1pm, in B.100!
* T-shirts are ready to be picked up or purchased (see below)
* Sign up for Casa Maria - practice your medical Spanish and shadow docs!
Casa Maria is a local clinic for immigrants without insurance. We help out by taking patient histories (in Spanish), translating for the doctor (if needed) and just shadowing the doctor on duty. The clinic is held on Saturdays, with volunteers arriving at 9:15, and leaving around 12-1. Optimally we would have two students volunteer each Saturday. This is a great chance to practice your medical Spanish and to have hands on patient experience!
To sign up, send an email to [email protected] with your name, a phone number and the date you would like to volunteer.
* Buy a T-shirt for $10. Email [email protected] or show up to one of our meetings (TBA).
